GIBRALTAR DEFENCE FORCE
I have brought/received a badge to GIBRALTAR DEFENCE FORCE from a well known dealer (as above) described as "Gibraltar Defence Force original darkened cap badge". While I have no problem with the badge I wonder if this could be an Officer badge, as to me, it looks "bronzed" after a light clean.
Can a member confirm if this is so or not for me, please? Here is a bad picture,

gibralter defence force
hi jerry, sorry I'm not a gdf expert, but in the book regiment issue 62 dec 2004 it is all about this regiment. the book says they were the gibralter volunteer corps up until 1939 when they became the gibralter defence force and wore the badge in your photo, they then became the gibralter regiment in 1958. the photographs in the book which I have looked at under magnification show the officers wearing a much darker badge than the other ranks so I think it's safe to say that you have an officers bronze badge 1939-1958. regards john
