Default Small RNAS Armoured Car Badge for opinions

Happy Easter Everyone

I recently picked up the small RNAS badge pictured below, the description and picture on the site weren't very good and although I expected it to be a small version I thought it may turn up with a brooch type fitting as in a sweetheart's badge. When I received the badge it turned out to have 2 lugs. It is approx. 25mm wide by 30mm tall, well made and the lugs and braze around them also look good. It cost me just over £6 so I am not too worried if it is a duff badge. Either way I am going to keep it but would just appreciate opinions on what it was actually made for.

Many thanks in advance

Paddy

I have two similar badges (small size) one gilt finish, obviously a sweetheart brooch and the other with a pin, which I was informed was "an old comrades" badge, although no proof.

John

Many thanks, I did see your 2 when I did a quick search before posting but was curious as to why mine had lugs as opposed to a brooch fastening.

Hi Paddy

I remember seeing a photograph on ebay, quite a while ago, where a guy was wearing a smaller version badge on his collar, unfortunately I did not obtain it.

John

Many thanks, so there is a chance that this small badge was actually worn on uniform and may not be a sweetheart, any ideas why the distinct difference in size.

Hi Paddy

No idea. The photograph on ebay did not show the rank of the person wearing the badge, but it certainly was not a young rating by the cut of the dress.
