That is interesting as it has the die flaws, can't be a common badge, maker marked as well on a slider.

Not my usual period so can it be confirmed that there are some positive flaws on the original badge posted pointing to it being good? I understand the usual negative flaws to look for but could someone point out the positive flaws for me on this Gaunt badge? Thanks, Paul.

So, am I reading this right and this is a good badge, the one in the original post? Does the size of the makers mark have any bearing as I thought it was usually small?

Parachute Regiment Gaunt
Hi
It’s a genuine badge imoo post WW2 I own it, it originally had lugs but these have been removed by Gaunt and a slider added. I can only assume they had lugged badges in stock but the contract called for slider so slider it was. When the original badge was made? Nobody can know for sure. It’s marked J.R.GAUNT LONDON 1.5mm x 23.75mm seen on some genuine late 1940 early 1950 badges. I try to avoid these spats about dates etc etc but thought people might like to see the evidence of lugs removed and replaced by a slider. |
