Hi all and a happy New year.
Does anyone have an image etc on how this was used and in what conjunction with other badges on the sleeve. Thanks Simon. |

Here is one Simon. Notice the crown above showing the grade/level of the award.

Thanks Toby, cracking picture you have there. Would you have reference to the crown, like style and maybe size. I want to see if I can get one to be able to display this in the RA frame eventually.

The style of gun was adopted in 1898. If in gm, the crowns or stars were separate, whereas bullion and worsted were combined. Nothing on sizes, I am afraid, but hopefully you can estimate from the photos. The prize battery badge was in 3 classes. 1st Class was guns and crown, 2nd class guns and star and 3rd class guns alone. Crowns were Victorian initially and then Tudor.

Thanks Toby/ JP
I'll start to keep an eye out for crowns now on EB. I have one, but from your pic it's a little large I think. I'll photograph them together and will probably be able to gauge better what I need. Cheers Simon. |

You need the old 1914 Colour Sergeants (large) crown.

Really, that's music to my ear's. This is the only one I had and being large I thought that it might be too large. I'll shoot them together and post in a day or two and you let me know Toby if I have the right one.

The two photos are mine - my Father is the Sergeant seated on the right in both of them. Very pleased to see they have been of use. Best regards Peter4447 |
