Default Aden - Federal Regular Army

Did I see a recent post regarding Aden - FRA items? I have a single anodised shoulder title from my time with the FRA in the 1960s. The title shows 3 arabic letters for Gaiysh AlIttihaad Alnithaamiy - the transliteration for, in English, Federal Regular Army

Hello Sean,
Thank you. I think we wore your badge only on SD caps. Up-country, Mukeirias, Ataq, Dhala and Beihan we wore only a plain khaki musheddah. Since they were regularly washed, almost daily, it was not practical to wear a badge

Default Aden - Federal Regular Army

Hello Eddie, Many thanks. A very nice set. I expect not many of them around these days particularly since the cap badges were not often worn outside of Aden.
The attached photos show the ever-popular Musheddah - even the Cameron Highlanders wore it when up-country. One photo shows a visit to 3 FRA in Dhala by the Force Commander, Brigadier James Lunt. Just found a couple of other photos which shows that the Arab officers also wore SD caps on very formal occasions. Also the British officers could, on these occasions, elect to wear the green and white side-cap - with badge. My memory is letting me down !!!!

Default Newbie with a couple of questions!

Hello all,

My first ever post here. I ebay all manner of things and occasionally small sized military items such as wall shields, zippo's, cap badges etc.

I attach an image of an Aden FRA wall shield should anyone be interested but my main reason to post is to ask kindly if anyone can identify the stable belt buckle for me?

What colour was the flash/tassle on the side of the Mushedda? I have an all green one with the Government Guard badge.

The FRA did not wear a flash on the mushedda. No badges or markings. See plate D in the Armed Forces of Aden second edition. I believe you have a copy of that. It was a bit like a cut down version of your SAF shemagh. FYI the UAE book on the military forces of all the trucial states and UAE police and military forces has been published. Still waiting for my copy to arrive here in New Zealand.
