Dagger in wreath is Royal Victoria Regiment collar badge.

RAR collar was same as their cap badge.

hi Keith
surely the Dagger in wreath is Royal Australian Infantry Corps collar.

Both the Royal Victoria Regiment collar and the RAR collar are the same but smaller version as their cap badge.

Dagger in wreath is RAINF mate thought probably also worn by RVR in the early days.

Roy[al] Aus[tralian] Regiment (RAR) and Royal Australian Infantry Corps (RAInf) are two different things.

As a member of the former I was issued and wore collar badges that were identical to the Regimental 'skippy' hat badge, just smaller.

RAInf may wear the dagger in wreath collar badge - we were never issued collars on marching out of Kapooka although we wore the RAInf hat badge until after IET.

Royal Victoria Regiment (RVR) did wear the dagger in wreath collar in my day, I'm not aware that any of the other ARes infantry regiments did so.

My point is - the dagger and wreath collar badge was NOT worn by RAR as bobanodised has stated.

Unhappy

My apologies, I should have looked at my collection instead of trying to do it from a shocking memory

Thank you for your identifications and interesting comments.

I think the RAS slide is for a midshipman, but why a golden thread ?
Do you know something about the green colour of the captain's slides ?
