Default My Great Granddads Silver War Badge

Hello all
My Great Granddad served in the Yorkshire Dragoons In ww1.
I know by the 'Army List' that he served as as Adjt to the 9th bn West Riding Regt in 1917.
He was invalided out of the army in 1919 and i know he served in the trenches at some point because my Granddad told me he was gassed.
What i would like to know is that on his medal card there is only a reference to a Silver War Badge being issued, no other medals, did they have to serve for so many days in the front line to get the victory medal ect?it just seems strange that he did'nt get any others.
thank you for your time

Just one days service in a theatre of war would have qualified him for a Victory Medal and by default, the British War Medal. If you wish to PM me his details I will look on ancestry.co.uk and see what I can come up with.

Agreed, and the fact he had the Silver War Badge attests to his war service.

It might be worth digging a bit further. I had a relative who initially served in the Royal Naval Armoured Car Squadron in Russia, and when it was disbanded in 1917, he re-joined and served in the Royal Garrison Artillery. I have only been able to locate a medal card which takes account of his army service, so you may well be in a similar situation.
Best of luck with your research

John
