Lanark and Renfrew Scottish
Question. The Lanark and Renfrew Scottish were basically created out of the 1st LAA RCA while in Italy. When did they start getting/ wearing the L & R insignia. I have seen a picture of them in Italy wearing Balmorals...but can't establish the timeline for them to wear the insignia. Two of my more interesting L & R

Beautiful badges. Any chance of a shot of the reverse of the Glengarry badge? I don't recall ever seeing an officers pattern in person before.

as requested...
...it is stamped Scully Montreal, but it is hard to see it in the scan. It is just to the left of the gilt insert.

L&R Scottish
I believe they were back in the RCIC after this re org and then back to AA Arty in Belgium somewhere around March '45.

The printed title illustrated is one of either 4 or 6 titles prepared as patterns. (There are two different numbers in the archives documents.) No production run of the printed title was authorized, and there is no record of such an order with Calico. There is evidence of an embroidered title in wear, but images are still needed to confirm the issue.

Lanark and Renfrew Scottish
Out of interest what period is the metal shoulder title Lanark Renfrew? Is it a CEF title or is it from between the wars?
Just posing this question as I have one and would like to know. Can anyone help please. Cheers Arnhem |

Still Digging..
Yes..I've been rooting for wartime Lanark and Renfrew photos showing insignia for years but still no such luck.My best bet is local museum scrapbooks for such unpublished material as both the Elgins and RCR were in MED theatre as well at that time....countless web searches have shown nothing to date.

Mike, We will keep looking ...
Hello arnhem2280. An image of the title would be helpful. The title would not likely be CEF, as the CEF was organized in numbered battalions (with a couple of exceptions..). The metal titles were for service dress, and appear to have been authorized in 1928. The metal titles were worn on service dress and tropical worsted until circa 1968.

A Photo..
...From the Brant County Album of Honour....unfortunately My scan hardly shows the title at all but I,m going to rescan my dad's copy which is actually not as dark of a print. You can just make out the title and its very large size...I,ll try again tomorrow to get a better resolution. The two titles below are of the same pattern. I,ve been trying to find a different wartime pattern but haven't as yet. Anyone have anything different? The one title has been clearly sewn on a battledress.

Interesting photo. The title in the photo appears to have reverse colours, or at least the lettering is a lighter colour than the background colour.
The L & R title in the post appears to be a Canadian made example. Compare the stitching on the example in Mike's post and the example in helmutcdn.

Also interesting that the example in Helmuts post has pointed ends while the example in my post is flat or somewhat vertical...
