Default ? 1V RTR pipers badge

Hi, amongst all the tank badges was this Pipers badge. As I don't usually collect them can I ask if this is genuine or a made for collectors item? Also there were some sweethearts in the collections which I have included just to show, best wishes Mike

It's a genuine pipers badge made for the RTR. The IV on the front commemorates the original pipe band of 4RTR. From what I was told, The first badges for the (4th) RTR pipers were cast in pewter, the second type was large and shiny but none had the IV on the front. Once 4RTR was gone the pipers carried on in another battalion, but carried the IV on the glengarry badges. Ive seen photos of other, non pipers, wearing the badges on glengarries too, so probably a desireable item for ex scottish RTR members.
A very few were made in hallmarked silver for the pipemajor and others.
I have photos of the badges in my album.

Very nice Mike! I'd like to get one of them as well.
