Scottish and Northern Ireland Yeomanry
Hi guys,
I was working at Scottish International Air Show at the weekend with the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. I noticed a mate of mine, ex RTR, who is now in the SNIY. He was wearing a new metal badge on his beret instead of the cloth one. He said they were only issued to the unit on Friday!! I managed to scrounge his cloth one from him. He also said the new badges were a kind of tinny metal and they had ordered new heavier ones. I got some pics of the new badge, hope it is of interest to some of you. Bill

Thank you for this post, I have been waiting to see this metal version, I have all the cloth ones.

Yup, yet another badge to add to what seems to be an ever-growing "wants list". Years back I used to look forward to "that's it, I've got ALL the badges in my designated collections", but....

Quite a pleasing looking badge. May I ask, how many cloth badges were issued before the metal one, also, do the officers wear bullion or silver/gilt? Any chance of some pictures please, I would be most greatful, thank you.

3DG,
I did see a WO wearing a bullion version but he dissapeared before I could get a picture, never saw an officer for the short time I was at their stand. I don't have a contact number or details for the lad I spoke to so can't help with photos of the others badges I'm afraid. Bill
