Thanks Jerry for the welcome and the advice. I'll keep watch for postings.
I used to collect all sorts of memorobilia from fire depts, police forces, prison items, but realized the house was turning into a museum. My Mrs. has a lot of patience!! I narrowed it down to prison items from around the world, The Newfoundland Rangers, and The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary. Any military items being sought, I'm glad to help. I'm always digging for treasures at auctions and flea markets, so send me a list or a photo so I know what to look for. Unfortunately I'm not very familiar with the military items.

I only collect HMP items and maybe one or two colonial things if they are nice - but not patches. My collection is very large and mostly old and Victorian or pre-1952. Me and Bantam swap photo's all of the time privately and we are trying to get this field of collecting more recognised over here in the U.K. as it is around the world.

I'm mid way building my own website about the history of the British Prison Services (England/Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland etc and more) and a lot of my badges will be featured on this site.

Look down through this thread and you'll see some small items that we have posted.

Hello and thanks for the welcome. I started collecting about 20 years ago, and did everything from fire service to police to prison items. I recently got rid of my large police collection and fire stuff, except for some sentimental pieces.I won't part with my Royal Newfoundland stuff. I also collect Newfoundland Rangers memorobilia as well as world prison items,
I started in Sarnia Ontario in early 80's and left to join the police department. (thats how I got started collecting) I left after a couple of years over political issues and ended back working in jail. My families into policing, but I couldn't swallow alot of the crap, and found it easier to go back inside. I now work at the Don jail and have my share of scars and stories. Been stabbed once, knocked out twice and have various other bumps and bruises along the way.
I would eventually like one badge from everywhere, but it's almost impossible as you know. I surf Ebay and go to swap meets when I can. If I can be of help, let me know. send me your address I'll send you a uniform patch and tie pin if i can put my hands on a few. No need to send anything in return, I'm just happy to send it along.
