Could the middle badge be British Guyana Volunteer Force? Their buttons & cap badge had a clipper in full sail going left to right, but would their collar badges be handed as your badge goes right to left.

David.

That is a great shout David. It looks to be the very same design of clipper. Although I can not yet find a collar badge on the internet as evidence. I did however find an interesting bit of blog about British forces stationed in Guiana before it gained its independence in 1966 which I thought was an interesting read.

Hi, regarding the elephant collar dog, the Connaught Rangers used these (when they were part of the Indian Army just before WW1) and as far as I am aware so did the Seaforth Highlanders. However, someone with a high level of experience would need to check the badge to see if this is from one of these units or potentially something different. Many tks.

In addition, could the Prince of Wales Feather one with Ich Dien motto be one for the Civil Service Rifles from WW1?

A quick search shows both units had elephants without anything on their backs , the nearest I could find was "Duke of Wellington's (West Riding) Regiment Volunteer Battalion " but it had a howdah .

Could the one in post#1 have had the howdah removed ?
