WWII Parachute Regiment beret group
Although there is not much insignia to show here i thought you would appreciate this group. Private William Joseph Ralphs served with the British expeditionary force in 1939 with the Middlesex and also Cheshire regiment, Ralphs then joined 1st Parachute Brigade in 1941 which later he went on to the 2nd Battalion Parachute Regiment. Ralphs was in the Medium Machine gun Platoon Support company, his commander was Monsell and there is a hand written letter by Monsell which was found tucked away inside of his paybook. The battles i know that he was in are the Dunkirk evacuation and Operation Market Garden were he was captured, he also served in North Africa, and 1945-46 he was in the Army air corps.

Para badge
I think the lion is bent over, for what reason I don't know, maybe less to polish!
Also the badge looks as though it was made of brass and plated, the plating polished off in places. |
