Default Chaplain collars

Picked these up in an ebay lot out of Australia. They are maker marked K.C.Luke... over MELB so I'm assuming they are in fact Australian. However they look to be a generic pattern common to the Commonwealth and I'm thinking I can put them in with my WW1 Canadian section... these would be WW1 issue? THANKS JIM

Hi Jim,

These are Australian collars worn up to and during World War 2. I think they first came in around 1912.

It appears to be the same design as UK Chaplain badges of that period.

Hi Jim, the South African Chaplains also wore this design in WW1, so the pattern must have been for the whole British Empire. Regards Andrew

Hello
Indeed I believe it was. Up to 1930 for the British, iirc circa 1940 for the Canadians, and post ww2 for the Australians. Not sure of dates for South Africa just now.
