Default Identification needed please

Could somebody help me with these 2 please. I don't know what the lettering is on the first one so I cannot research it. I feel I ought to know the other one but I can't find any reference to it.
Many thanks

I think the Sphinx (tail up) is the wrong type for Dorsetshire, it could be Lancashire Fusiliers or South Lancashire Regiment, I will have to double check but I think it may be LF. (20th of Foot)
After a quick look it is similar to an early pattern 40th (Somersetshire) of Foot later S.Lancs collar badge if you can confirm the size of the badge it may be helpful.
It does also seem that the tail on the Dorsetshire Regt - 54th of Foot Sphinx's tail changed position on numerous occasions during their history.
