Makers mark - GROVE MFG B'HAM

I have sent both the comments and pictures of the 2 different makers marks back to Martin.
Here are his comment:-

"when i get a chance i'll scout the net and locate the warwicks museum and we'll ask if indeed designs of these badges were made / sanctioned in the first place. these are the only examples i've encountered but i could saftly the same for 100's of others., they just don.t look or feel like copies at all. Obviously I paid top dollar for them too.
As for those 2, these came from Mike Luckich and I suspect originally from Lee Bamboroughs collection where your 3rd vb originated"


I don't know who Lee Bamborough is or was.
I will keep you informed about his reply. If not good, I may just buy a cross belt plate with the refund.

found them in the 1938 Brummie phone book

Excellent. So we now know that they did indeed exist and if I can locate another genuine badge with the ".", the only other issue is whether the badge itself is genuine - reagardless of the mark of the dot or nodot mark.

First reference in the Birmingham phone books is 1933 and the last is 1958
