Default Unknown flaming grenade badge

This is a bit of a mystery to me as the flames are different on this badge than the ones I have seen. Is this british from Canada. I think its ww1 era.

So why are the flames different than most does that tell you what regiment. If you look at the flames close you will see they split in the middle. Do you think this is pre ww1

Possibly manufactured using a different die .I sometimes think that too much notice is taken of minor variations when one considers that every new die is hand made, perhaps with later , computerised, badges these minor variations will become a thing of the past.

The grenade could be the pattern worn by the Winnipeg Grenadiers. It is not the same as the one illustrated in the gallery.

I think there's something about 16 flame tips to a 17 flame tip version. It's a thread on here somewhere.

Simon.
