Default Another castle mystery

Can anyone identify this badge? It was found about 500 km north of Perth WA

Yes, its a Suffolk Regt collar badge c.1881.

That regiment was known as the XII th Foot until 1881 (when it was renamed the Suffolk Regiment) and was involved in putting down the Eureka rebellion when the 1st Battalion served in Melbourne in 1854. I wonder if it went to WA with a goldminer from Ballarat who found it at Eureka?
