Hi,
There may be some police stuff collector.
I am no specialist but the badges on the képis were metallic.
I tend to think that could be a sport gear badge (ie, wore on the sport shirt?).
Also, the connection with the May 1968 events may add a bit to whatever value someone would pay for a police badge.

When in France I often go to a Police station of Gendarme unit to exchange a badge and find them very helpful, although I have only visited Paris a couple of times due to other sight seeing ventures I didn't get one of theirs, maybe next time.

I worked with Gendarmes, years ok, collected various insignia - all given to the kids to play with........
