At 20% sellers fees and 30% buyers fees there is only one winner as I see it...

the seller of the items had a large amount throughout the catalogue so I’m sure he negotiated a better than 20% rate. If he or she did not they are stupid!

if you are bidding in person rate is 24% inclusive

It was good to see the full grouping to CSM Barnes before it was split - I was lucky enough to secure some nice items, but attribution demanded a premium. It was interesting to note the three similar wings sold for virtually the same prices, as did the three similar 'Knife' badges. Current demand for these things is very high - if only buyers commission was a big round zero ;-)

Lets hope the prices realised encourage more items of this quality onto the market ... demand is obviously high, and I for one am always on the look out for good Commando lots.

May I ask how you know that the seller had items throughout the catalogue?

Mike,
I did not actually get to see this sale on the day, do you know around how many different buyers there were for the items that had belonged to Captain Barnes?
Regards Frank

Assumption being the 14 lots attributed to Barnes I guess + the knowledge that they would bring in a lot of revenue for any auctioneer

well on the 14 lots alone as Belly says, that would be enough if it were me to negotiate a better than 20% rate

With the age of the internet bidding, telephone bidding, bidding in person this can be done at any auction house so it really is a seller’s market when it comes to choosing an auction house to sell at
