Royal Malay Regiment
Hi folks
Just thought I'd share a new purchase. A set of items from the Royal Malay Regt. Officers Songok, majors eppelettes, two brass shoulder titles and a full set of brass buttons. Unfortunately nothing is know of the original owner although I'm assuming it was worn by a British Officer as I am uncertain if there were any Malay Majors prior to independence. Also I know that yellow is the Colour for Malay Royalty, is this what the colour of the yellow backing to the shoulder titles and cap badge signify or could they be battalion ID colours. New arrival, Malay Regiment pill box hat dated 1940 by Hobsons, I wondered why these were made in 1940 when the war was on, but I've recently read on another forum that the order was placed with Hobsons but never reached the Regiment because of the start of the war hence why there have been quite a few of these popping up over the last few years.
