Cheshire Yeomanry ( R.Signals )

I have acquired a very nice lot of items today to E.J. Corbishley who was a pre war Territorial who served in the 6/7th Manchesters and 65th Bde R.A.(T.A.) pre WW2 and re enlisted in the Cheshire Yeomanry as 3525381 Trooper Evan Jones Corbishley on 26/11/1939.

He was then part of the Yeomanry when they transfered to the Royal Signals during WW2.

He was awarded the Territorial Efficency Medal inFebruary 1944 and two bars on 23/3/1950. The Efficency medal is named to 3525381 Cpl.E.J.Corbishley R.Signals.

There is very interesting photo of the officers and men ( not dated ) with some of the officers and men wearing the Cheshire Yeomanry cap badge whilst other officers and men wear the R.Signals cap badge ( some being the WW2 economy plastic versions ) Although not too clear the cloth title "Cheshire Yeomanry " white letters on blue appears to be being worn.

There is also a substantial amount of paperwork including his Pay Book,photos, certificate for his Kings badge. There is an Earl of Chesters Yeomanry mess plate ( supplied by Stoniers Liverpool ) and a mother of pearl Sweethearts type brooch which seems to have been bought from P.CH Baltinester of Jaffa Road,Jerusalem.

According to Verdins history of the Cheshire Yeomanry E.Corbishley served after WW2 as Mess Sergeant from 1949-1953.

A nice acquisition to say the least.

This is something that I feel all forum members, whether collectors or dealers should keep in mind, when a collection of items whether they be badges, medals or whatever comes available they should be kept together for history and posterity. They are part of someones life who served country and are a memorial to them.

The number of times I have heard of dealers splitting up a persons artifacts purely for a quick profit annoys me. Kept together they form part of history, split up they become meaningless.
