Default Black Watch volunteer no Sphinx

A recent addition to my collection, a sphinxless volunteer badge. The lugs appear to have been pinched to lengthen them slightly, although they are already somewhat longer than usual, perhaps for wear on a feather bonnet? Note also the rectangular feet; I believe these were an early variation as I have other earlier badges featuring them.

It’s a Territorials badge (post 1908) not Volunteers. Worn by 4th-7th Battalions if memory serves and I believe like many TF badges its wear was abandoned during WW1 and never resumed.

Those loops are synonymous with that type of badge and every example I’ve seen has them.

They’re not particularly uncommon but on a dealers list always command a hefty price tag, c.£120-150.

Quite right, my bad, it is of course post 08 and I am aware of that.
I did rather well at 40.00 USD for it. It is a nice strike as well, as so many volunteer and Terrier badges seem to be.
