Newfoundland theatre
Does anyone know for sure what Regiments wore this patch, I have never seen a used one yet. I think it was a Canadian patch & not a Newfoundland one. But don't know if it was ever used. Anyone got a picture of one being worn? I don't think it would take much wear seeing it is on felt and all that I have seen have been on felt, not melton.

Hello Ray, See Clive Law's Distinguishing Patches Second Edition, page 45.
The patch was requested but denied. It seems that the far flung units of the Canadian army didn't hear the echos in the halls of authority in Ottawa. Wouldn't be the first time that "do it first ask permission later" backfired. |

W FORCE PATCHES
Hi
Great book and a must for anyone interested in Canadian Formation patches. There are a few pictures around of members of the Canadian Army in Newfoundland wearing this patch. I'm not sure exactly which units in Newfoundland wore it but definitely not worn by all. I have also seen a similar patch with gold caribou on blue with NEWFOUNDLAND under it. I was told this patch was for Canadian units stationed Labrador. Don |

There has been some discussion about blue patches, and IIRC, they were attributed to the Newfoundland RA units?

I have the list that Charles Edwards put out a long long time ago, There dosen't seem to be too many formations in the Canadian army unless you want to count the duplicates like RCASC 1st Div, RCASC 2nd Div etc etc etc. and others like that(letters on the 5th div patch, Artillery) all common knowlege.
