The Cumberland Militia became the 3rd Bn. The Border Regiment in 1881 so a broad date range would be from then (1881) to 1908.
Apologies for playing about with the picture, the engraving is rather poor but the crown might be intended to be Victorian which would narrow the time a little. P.B.

The crown would indeed indicate when they were made, but more than likely used after 1902, also it was not unheard of to see older items in use by a successor battalion or regiment either.

yea,its a real shame,at least these cant be restrikes.Its the sort of thing that if you were looking for some,you wouldnt find any.might put them on sell my militaria and see how it goes.thanks.tommy t bag
