Default Lincs Regt- pagri or FS?

I've owned these items since 2009 and had filed them away then as being pagri flashes, as worn on the bush hat. I recently saw a similar badge described as a WW1 'battle patch', and Bosleys have a similar item in their current sale catalogue.

The description of the red 'X' can fit both the description of the WW2 bush hat badges, and the 'battle flash' worn by 2 Lincs in WW1. I know the design, and colours could also apply to the pagri flash of 10 Baluch Regt but I have discounted that option as their flashes were woven, not embroidered.

Please may I have the opinions of the panel?

Thanks, Stephen.

I would suggest that the panel has gone mute, but someone will be shouting at their pc, so in the absence of on-line answers I must presume everyone is stumped, or I've been blacklisted!

Has no one got an opinion?

Stephen.

There was a relatively recent thread on these very badges Stephen but I haven't been able to locate it in Search.

Thanks Rob. Unfortunately it still doesn't finally settle my question, only evidences that this style may have been worn in both world wars.

Stephen.

True, but it seems less likely that they were worn on any sort of hat.

Default Lincs

Rob,

Agreed, but I'm not getting my hopes up too early.

Regards, Stephen.

Hi Stephen,

Wish I had the answer for you and similarly am interested in the answer. The WM X FS badge I have and others I have seen and a photograph to support has one thicker arm to the X whereas the Baluch has same thickness on both arms. That has been a rule of thumb I have followed and so has put me off Bosleys one but I am a learner here.

Cheers Dean.

Default Lincs

Dean,

Thanks. I don't know anything about a WM Baluch badge, but I thought their pagri flash was reversed colours (blue on red) and woven, not embroidered.

No doubt Mike Jackson will have an answer in due course.

Stephen.

"The History of The First Battalion The Lincolnshire Regiment in India, Arakan, Burma and Support" has photos of what appears to be "X" on a square backing worm on the slouch hat on pages 55 and 65 although the images are indistinct.
