Hi all,

Another gap filled. RWKENT/KENT COUNTY shoulder title added to replace broken example. Another one on its way to me so the monkey may be slow but he is getting there.

Of course any spares out there for my gaps (2nd and 3rd Birmingham Pals, Lonsdale Pals and Welsh Pals cap badges and a Cardiff Pals collar badge, 2 Sportsman’s RF and 1st London Welsh shoulder titles) I like many others would be interested! Inbox ready for your PMs.

Cheers Dean

Additional and significant gaps filled in my Pals collection. A Gaunt GM 11th (Lonsdale Pals) Battalion, Border Regiment. Hall marked silver example to go.

An 18th (4th Glasgow Pals) Battalion, Highland Light Infantry shoulder title as a single piece. This opens up additional wants for the 15th, 16th and 17th (1st-3rd Glasgow Pals) Battalions, Highland Light Infantry.

Obviously keen to hear from members with spares, best regards to all, Dean

Thanks Chris - sometimes when you start things it looks a reasonable proposition in terms of being achievable. There are days I wonder as to the wisdom of that judgement but it is the fun of our hobby. Cheers Dean

Couple of new additions - 13th (1st County Down) Battalion, Royal Irish Rifles DOWN shoulder title shown with a RIR cap badge and a bladed Officer’s NF cap badge worn with bronzed non-voided Tyneside Irish shoulder title. I need a NF shoulder title to complete this Officer’s set and then redo the board so that the NF Pals battalions are all together. Cheers Dean.

Hello Dean, the collections looking great! I thought you might be interested in seeing this phot of Rifleman David Bell Patterson of 13th Royal Irish Rifles, killed in action on the first day of the Somme, as you can see, he's wearing the oval Ulster Division badge on his cap, all the best,

Paul

Many thanks for comments Mike and Paul. Paul - I had been looking for pics of the DOWN shoulder title being worn as I have only seen reference to it in several articles on Pals badges. It wasn’t clear to me at least as to what cap badge was worn with it. I had suspected that some of not all at some point wore the Ulster Division badge as per your splendid pic of Rifleman Patterson. I shall rejig it my other board under the Ulster Div cap badge, many thanks Dean.

Hi all,

I have updated one of my Pals boards with 2nd and 3rd Birmingham Pals badges and 2nd Sportsmans RF shoulder title - the un-numbered Sportsmans RF was worn on the greatcoat. I have some YCV items in transit so more to update in the coming weeks, cheers Dean

Great collection I’d not like to try and build that up now. Thanks for posting.

Thank you. If you want to preserve both kidneys it certainly isn't for the faint hearted.

I respect the service my Durham Pals grandfather gave and that of his generation and it is my way of helping remember that so the time and cost are hopefully secondary considerations, cheers Dean

Default YCV additions

Hi all,

Thanks to guidance from Paul W. I have added an oval Ulster Divison badge to complement the DOWN shoulder title and picked up the mufti badge and large tunic button to go with it. Birmingham Pals and YCV buttons are I think the only specific buttons worn by Pals battalions but I haven’t checked that fact yet.

I have also added in a Northumberland Fusiliers Tyneside Irish Officer cap badge and bronze non-voided harp with NF title.

My thanks to mods for site getting back up and all they do to keep it here as a splendid resource and network of friends, cheers Dean

Hi all,

A 1st Glasgow Pals shoulder title added and ever hopefully leaving a gap for the 2nd and 3rd Glasgow Pals with HLI cap badge markers, cheers Dean.
