Default R.A. but what ?

This badge :

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1320083175...84.m1436.l2649

is very similar to a badge which is part of a larger item in an auction later in the month.

Is anyone please able to tell me the use of this badge ?

Many thanks

P.B.

Peter
Looks to me very much like a Royal Artillery senior NCOs arm badge for Number 1 dress blues although I stand to be corrected

SNCO unofficial Mess Dress badge, or a Master Gunners Mess Dress badge.

There are numerous variations as they are private purchase.
