Royal Signals bi metal Indian made cast badge by Sharma

I cannot recall seeing one of these before but they may be common but not like the example which was worn by my father and was all brass. I cannot remember another quite like this one.

This is a bi metal, cast, Royal Signals badge with the makers name T.L. Sharma & Co., Aligarth U.P. on the slider. It is most interesting to see how the white metal ( ?) Jimmy is attached to the rest of the badge. Considerably more time consuming to make this one I would have thought than the all brass version.

Yours is actually very similar, if not identical to mine.

They are both far better than my Dads theatre made example which I have pictured.

Your fathers badge came from the Middle East, most likely the bazaars of Egypt.

I am not sure my Dad served in Egypt, he certainly served in Palestine, sadly he is no longer around for me to ask his about the badge or indeed many other questions I should have asked him but never did.

Dear Peter.

Have a little look at my web site www.signalsbadges.co.uk under the UK Section.

If you look at some of the 1921 pattern badges I show there you will see an identical version of the badge that you have been asking about and a OSD Bronze version along side it. There is also a small write up which explains why the badges were made in India and Sharma was just one of many local companies that made them.

They were also made locally in Egypt and there is a couple of examples of their badges which I must admit are of slightly better quality than the ones made in India.

Sorry that McAfee comes up with the reply you have shown.

I can't give you a reason as I use McAfee as my security provider and have never had a problem with the site.

So sorry you can't enjoy the site. My only other thought is to go via Google and call up Signals Badges, Scroll through and you will find my site. Try entering that way and not through my URL.
