Default Greetings from Australia

Came across this forum trying to establish if I had purchased some fakes from eBay. As a result of reading the threads I am convinced I have.

Have been collecting badges for about 40 years.

I was in the Signal Corps hence the name The Chook.

Welcome Chook,

Hope you enjoy the Forum and find it helpful.

I am a Signals collector. Take a look at my little web site www.signalsbadges.co.uk
hope you fnd it interesting. Is there anything there that you think I should have please advise and send a photograph if possible.

When I was in the Royal Signals some 40 years ago we used to be called Scailybacks! What is the origin of Chooks would be interested to know.

Cheers

Chris

Welcome Keith,

Pleased to have another member in Australia. There are a few of us and many like myself collect only British badges. it is with getting to an Arms Fair in Melbourne and seeing Les Stillman for badges. Post your badges on the Forum, read the posts and learn plenty from the albums in particular.

Travel to Melbourne a fair bit so where abouts in the sprawling city are you as could catch up, cheers Dean.

Default Your web page

Chris

Just had a look at your page. A magnificent selection of Signal Corps badges.

The origin of chooks was explained to me as follows, chickens/fowls/chooks bobbing down to eat grain on the ground which was the same hand motion that we used when we did morse code.

Regards

Keith

John, the Yarra River as of 18:00 hrs today was still in flood, thick brown and not very inviting.

Regards

Keith

Thanks Keith: Gives one a nice warm feeling to know the Yarra hasn't changed much over the last fifty years, but of course Melbourne sure has, but I guess that goes for cities everywhere.

Regards,

John
