I love these WW1 gift tins, especially when full, however, this one didn't have the usual contents, came from a shed in Keynsham. Not sure what the VIII is but it has stitching in each corner which makes me think it was worn on the pugaree like the other two cloth items. All the one piece titles and the T4s are sand cast, not sure what the little green enamel badge is though, enjoy.

What a nice collection. For once I really like the cloth patches more than metal badges.

Lee,

I think the VIII could have been worn on the back of the tunic collar, I have a very similar one a 'IV' worn by the 9th Notts and Derby-I'll post a pic later.

Mark

Nice lot by the way!

Default 'IV' Battle Patch 9th Notts & Derby WW1

Lee,

The attached picture shows the battle patch worn by the 9th Bn Sherwood Foresters the roman numeral IV denotes their place within the Bde as the fourth infantry battalion and not the number of the Bn.
