Default Hallmarked RAC

Last badge from a group found recently. A bold design, very appealing.

Had one of these several years back but had traded it away. Glad to find one again for the collection

A lovely looking badge, Jack.

This would be a July 1941 - July 1942, example, if I’m not mistaken.

Best,

Marcus

Lovely badge Jack.

I have the it in what I assume is silver plated form, no hm's or P or S though just the makers mark.

Yes almost identical. Nice looking badge. Do most of these officers versions come with a 3 lugged reverse.

Thanks
Jack

A very typical and pleasing example with seventh cycle Birmingham hallmarks for 1941.

Jack, all the examples I remember seeing have the three lugs.

Jack, gorgeous badge (I would say that I have one from the same manufacturer & year) it’s a lovely weight which presumably accounts for the three lugs. I have one other by Firmin, dated 1943/44 that has two lugs but is noticeably lighter.
The 3-lugger would have been made in early 1942, the badge design was approved some time in early 42 and a nice bit of backup info comes from 145 RAC which gave orders for all their officers to adopt this new badge from May 1942.

Hello Jerry,
I don't think that I've ever seen one that had not been made with three from those particular dies and hallmarked, in common with the AAC and RTR.
Regards Frank
