Oh, my best purchase of 2022 has to be a single 25th Dragoons slip-on shoulder title, thus enabling me to reunite it with its original pairing slip.

Then, more recently, on Christmas Eve, I acquired a 22nd Dragoons officers photograph – 22D officers' pics are relatively scarce to obtain privately.

Happy New Year,

Marcus

Default Best badges of 2022

As a result of the death of a badge collecting mate of approx 35 years, I acquired from his estate half of his collection. Amongst this were some lovely badges including this set of Royal Ulster Rifles airborne badges. The blue embroidered shoulder title was a particular favourite of mine, but to get it paired with the officer’s silver beret badge AND a green backed glider troops badge was a dream come true.
I’d rather have my mate back, but whilst I have his badges he’ll never be forgotten.

Just found this very mis-described '3rd Hussars Victorian Collar badge' on EBAY, Very chuffed despite ebay GSP almost doubling the price..

Tony

It is indeed a West Yorkshire badge - it's the 1886 Field service Cap badge on 2 lugs. The West Yorks were one of the few Regts who did not wear the collar badge on the new FSC. Instead like the Hampshires they used the central device from their HPCs.

The Manchester Regiment also did this.

Hello all,

Just jumping into the "Favorites of 2022" with three of my best finds of 2022... Royal Berks Yeomanry Cavalry helmet, Hampshire Carabinieri helmet and Fife Light Horse helmet... and 2023 is already off to a grand start!

Successful collecting to all in 2023!
