Default RFC helmet plate?

hi all
any ideas what this is?
was described as
Original R.F.C. helmet badge ? R.F.C. bronze badge with 3 blades in centre of helmet style badge with 3 lugs. Size 3" x 2.75". (See pictures) Ex Bosleys Jan ? 2016.
ive never seen anything like it before

Either a very industrious person has been busy

OR

This is a legit item. Did the RFC have a band? That is all I could think where something like this may have been worn

..i recall seeing one crazy amount of years ago, i think its probably correct.

hi all
here are some further pics
my thoughts are its 2 piece and very well made. there doesnt seem to have been a crown on the RFC badge itself.
it is gilt, better than the pics show.
looks to have been shaped to fit something?
anyway, still hope to be able to ID it

In my opinion, the crown is a later addition to the badge.

yes, i think your correct. think the crown has been added when the badge was constructed and then gilded
