Exclamation Royal Norfolk Regiment

Just read an article on the BBC website about a horrific event in WW2 .

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-norfolk-61444787

For those who can't access the BBC :

Thanks for posting that link Mike. I had never heard about that particular incident before, unlike the Wormhoudt massacre, which is quite well known. At least the person responsible for the Le Paradis massacre was tried, convicted, and executed, unlike the perpetrator at Wormhoudt.
Regards,
Leo

Words fail me. Very moving account, and at least justice was served.

There are a few books that document this incident.

One is "The Vengeance of Private Pooley" which I believe was later turned into a film.

My Grandfather was an NCO in the 2nd Battalion. He was one of the lucky ones, being captured before the massacre took place. He was horribly wounded and came home a changed man. What we as children found very amusing little habits, were obviously a result of what he went through. I never once heard him complain though.
