Default God Save the Queen 70 years today

Today
A truly magnificent record reached 70 year's our Queen, I have been lucky enough to meet her and this former veteran and serving Prison officer found himself tongue tied in her presence she had such an affect on me.

Long May she reign

God Save the Queen

Regards to all

Stephen

....bless her.

What comes next is going to be interesting to say the least. The change will be massive.

I hope not, but indeed, she may be the last of the Monarchy as we know it. Of my British acquaintances here, all but one could care less.
I have a suspicion that all to many in Britain itself are of the same mind.

Personally I doubt it. Whilst we may not make much noise on the subject over here I guarantee that should the prospect of it being taken away ever arise a silent majority would become very vocal. That I think is the British way.

I could only ever see such a public opinion shift if someone with a character and behaviours akin a certain ‘private citizen’ were ever to ascend to the throne.

Thankfully I feel we are in safe hands for a couple generations yet.

She's highly preferable to the current and recent American version of "royalty" whether it's home grown or an iimported British spare.

..."Safe hands" .....not so sure? Maybe with William and Kate.... Kate will be an excellent Queen. Charles is a train wreck in slow motion.

Well, I for one love and admire the British Monarchy. After all, we were all British at one time.

I wrote to Princess Anne, asking for her autograph as Commandant of the FANY. I never expected a reply, but sure enough shortly after that I received a very nice letter from one of her ladies in waiting advising that she did not do autographs, but did send me a very nice picture of her. I truly treasure just having a letter with a Buckingham Palace return address. So I can only imagine how meeting the Queen was Stephen! Having the opportunity to meet her had to be a true honor and a life long magical memory! I too would be very tongue tied.

Another medal for the wife, that'll be three Jubilee Medals she's got, I only got one.
All adds to my collection when she's not looking.

I would have to say that The Queen is as popular here in the US as in Britain itself. I have never heard a disparaging word regarding her from anyone in my life time, which is nearing that of her reign.
As an aside, I am not quite sure I understand the dislike for Prince Charles that many seem to have.
Whilst I am of course not quite up on such matters, personally I like him and feel he is what King needs to be in many ways, at least from my remote perception of him.

She picked it up today.
I've been warned off.
She's got all those medals, but the only person she fights with is me.
