Default RMA collar and cap badge

As Irv will testify, there’s been some debate on here about the orientation of the lugs denoting the difference between RMA cap and collar badges. No matter which side of the fence you sit on it seems a given that the cap and collar badges were the same size and design.
Far be it from me to put a spanner in the works but I have come across a picture that might suggest otherwise.
I am not reproducing the picture in total, only parts of it, because I cannot ascertain any copyright restrictions.
It is in an article on the Broderick cap:
https://www.historynet.com/british-m...y-cap-suicide/
As you can see from the pictures below, there’s an NCO from RMLI and inspecting officer either RMLI or RMA and ranks of what seems to be RMA. The article states it was taken in WW1.
From the other 2 sections I have reproduced you can see that the cap badge appears as we know it - grenade flames and body of the same width BUT the collars look decidedly different to the cap badge. The flames seem wider and possibly flatter than as with the cap badge - looking to my untrained eye to be similar to the shape of the grenade in Grenadiers badges.
Thoughts and opinions sought and appreciated.
Yours Aye
Ray

I don’t think so. The picture of the 3 collars in view have slightly different abeles etc and all seem to have that different shape

Ray,
All RM badges for this period are in the clothing cost lists, there is NO separate entry for an RMA collar badge.
Yours
John
