Atholl Highlanders??
Hi,
I wasn't too sure where to put this post so popped it in here. I have an Atholl Highlanders Sporran Cantle and have tried (and failed miserably) to date it or find much information about it. I appreciate it's perhaps off topic as they are a Scottish ceremonial infantry regiment but after trying so many other places I thought I'd try here as the forum has been incredibly helpful with other military objects I have. Kind Regards, Thomas |

I admire your Atholl Highlanders cantle, very nice. I cannot answer your question but here is a link to Blair Castle folk who may be able to help: https://blair-castle.co.uk/scottish-...ng-the-castle/ Cheers, Tinto |

I think it is an officer's sporran cantle, seems to be the type still used so difficult to date. Could be recent or 50 years old.

The demi-wildman alludes to the capture of the Lord of the Iles by he Earl of Atholl in 1475.

Possibly pipers.
If you click on the pictures here you can see differences between cantles of the pipers and others. https://blair-castle.co.uk/scottish-...ade-gathering/ Cheers, Tinto |

None of the cantles shown in the link match the one shown here.
