Hello Lazio
The 'NH' is for 'Naval Hospital'. I believe the button was used by officers, presumably naval surgeons. Never been quite sure on this point though so I hope a naval expert will have some more details for us both! Roger |

Hello Lazio,
A nice button and not one I have seen before. I have a couple of Naval Hospital button, not quite as fancy as this though. Cheerio, Roy

Hi Lazio
As you say, there is very little information available about these buttons. I've been trying to find out more about these them for years! The National Maritime Museum state only that they believe they were worn by officers serving at Royal Naval Hospitals. They give the date of use as being 1850 - 1901. Pete |
