SAHA Metal title on uniform
I might or might not have posted this before but as there is an ongoing SAHA theme at the moment here is the picture.
These guys served very early in the War on the Coastal Batteries in East African ports. Some of the first SA troops to leave our shores in WW2. Note the normal SAA Flash on Polo Helmets that were worn by our troops for the early part of the war. It appears they disappeared some time around 1942/43 in the combat zones replaced by the normal British Helmet, our helmets had a distinctive 3 holes punched on the rim to assist in attaching a cloth to protect ones neck from the sun. Nice picture Brian.
Was this title also worn by 1st Medium Brigade SAHA or did they have cloth titles such as appear in one of your previous threads? Keith |

Thanks Brian. Are the WW2 metal SAHA types hard to get hold of?

Unlike the cloth version they are not that scarce, they do pop up from time to time, they are like the SATC and SAAF (straight type for the last mentioned) types, suspect made by the same company.
As a side note Owen has the SATC title as SA Trades Company WW1 which is incorrect, they are SA Tank Corps. Brian |
