The issue of provenance will become more and more important to serious badge collectors. That is the case with the high-end antiques market now (and thus an indication that fakery is an issue for all types of collectors!). I don't know how that would look for badge collecting and it's likely not practical, especially since the older badges have left their original owners long ago and been sold and resold many times since then. However, it may help. Keep those bills of sale from Bosley's and other established dealers!

EvilBay is not the problem. It's the Merchants either because of ignorance or trying to make a few extra Nickles. Unfortunately I was defrauded 4 times on Evilbay. It was only after I got the Items did I Noticed I was taken for a Ride! I was Especially that I sent him Few MSG trying to assure me It had a Tag.

Therefore in Hindsight I Got my Money back on All from Paypal. 4 Of the Items I kept after I had to go through the Aggravation Of Sending many MSG's. And told them The Rules state I have to send Back registered and Signed. In Canada That's $37.?? Plus my Service and handling Fee. $55.oous Total. They told Me They Hoped I Die and Go to Hell++++! Lmaoooo

Then Log a Complain with Trust and Safety, Then PayPal, and all the other OUP-Laaa I had to go through. Got my $$$ Back and Kept The Items.

Do on to others as they do on to you!

Let me be the devil's advocate: why would they believe you?
Perhaps they would believe an authority like Peter Taylor who is an author on the subject of SF insignia. Like 8th foot says, they want to maximise profit.

I've reported various breeches of policy just to see which ones they take seriously; it seems only the banned swastika policy was enforced, sometimes.

Your Right Mr Luc! Why would they take my word or the word of others, over a reputable Seller

So I bought the Items Knowing they where Fake and when I got I proved my point.

I did tell Trust and Safety I had Pictures to prove It was Fake.

Well when I got my $$$ back and kept the Items Ebay and the seller Lost And I won!
Especially when they got the pictures of the Real Deal, that I sent them.

Only then they took me Seriously.

You can be the Devils advocate any time you Like Mr Luc

Here are the pictures sent to me by the seller. I don't know what to think. The thread opened on a copy, but what about this badge from the same seller? I would think the marking is fine at first glance but I really don't like the colour of the whole badge (unless it comes from his camera???). Any idea?

Hi Phil,

Here is a photo of mine and remember, your friend validated for you/me, I have been told by others that it is OK, what do you think of the comparison ?

Dave,
yours is fine, I just wonder about the colour of the one from this sellerI've just posted. Marking sounds good, colour sounds very brown (the Lothians badges were in Brass, here looks like something different). Is this only some wrong feeling given by the bad picture??

Yes Phil,

After a closer look it seems to be a light bronze/gunmetal material, I wonder, could it just be his camera ??

If the slider is right and it doesn't look like it's taken from another badge, perhaps it is fine !!

Dave.
