Default Blazer Badges ID

Hi All,

I've just bought a few blazer badges on eBay so I can get one in particular. I'm not really interested in the rest so will probably try and trade them or put them back on eBay.

I'm fairly sure one isn't a blazer badge but is the squadron badge from a flight suit for the Dambusters.

Can anyone help with the other two?

A google search makes me think the Alpha Company one is for 40 Commando, is that correct or is it a special part of it or something else completely?

Thanks a lot,

Michael

Yes 40 Commando Royal Marines, Alpha Company is correct ... post war always known as 'The Saints'. Legend has it that one of the Company Commanders was a fan of Leslie Charteris hence the nickname. I served in 40 '65 - '67, several members of Alpha wore a small 'Saints' badge under the fold of their berets.

And I would guess that the left hand one is for a civvie parachute club from Charleston, South Carolina, USA.

Thanks a lot, I was wondering about that. I was also wondering why they were known as alpha coy rather than 40 commando?

Thanks for the reply.

Thanks Ian, that makes perfect sense now you have said that. I'll have to hit Google again.

The Saint image also featured on the A Coy, 40 Cdo RM tie. Sunray 9 and I may have met before - I was in support (with the aid of a 105mm Pack How) of a Coy of 40 Cdo RM at Plaman Mapu (Red 336) Sarawak in 1965. Mike

Looks like a lovely spot to vacation in, Mike. I don't envy either of you!
