Did the Helmet plate have the blue inlay like my badge or is it just to look good for collectors ?

I believe you got "had."
The only RM helmet plate with a blue inlay that I have seen that was legit was an officers one which also had a silver globe. (I have one on a RM helmet) KK don't mention it, nor do any of the other "references."
I believe the blue inlay is a trap for the unsuspecting. (Real purrty though!)

My RM Helmet Plate for OR does not have a blue enamel inlay and the stamping on the rear is crisp and clear. I'm afraid yours looks like a poor restrike.

Did the N.C.Os Helmet Plates have blue enamel around the motto?

Yes they do come with blue enamel.

The badges above are made up fakes.
You will not find any of the above badges at the Royal Marines Museum
which has the finenest collection of Royal Marines badges in the world.
Senior NCO's helmet-plates from 1904-54 and 1954-64 were all gilt.
Officers and WO 1s wore three piece helmet-plates in Gilt,Silver and Blue-enamel.

Sadly there has been a vast number of these traded on ebay over the past few years, KC versions as well. All Duffo.

Hi all
Yes they have been around for a long time.There used to be a dealer in Plymouth on the Barbican who had to large boards full of repro's selling for £3 each or four for £10, so he was'nt doing anything wrong. And about twenty years ago he had those fantasy RM helmet plates (which I wish I'd bought now one of each K & Q Crowns just for the sake of it) and I wrote to Hugh King and and in his reply he said they were nothing but pure fake's and he would not have them in his collection.

BADGE ORGANISATION ROYAL MARINES OFFICERS HELMET

Base mount, Gilding metal, dead gilt with burnished finish.
1st mount, Gilding metal, dead gilt with burnished finish, with dark blue enamelling behind circlet.
2nd mount, Globe, Nickel Silver, dead silver with burnished finish.
Complete with two cotter pins.

I have the OR's one in my collection i'm making now. The officers one seems to go for £45+. Out of my price range. Felt iffy paying £26 for an RMA.

Am just mounting these the Q/C could well be copy? or genuine not sure?
The Officers pattern "J & Co" to rear really nice badge and K/ C for your perusal, as to the badges being discussed they look nice but not kosher! Enjoy and all the best billy
