Default 45th Regiment of Foot Last Pattern Shako

Howdy folks,

Managed to acquire this little Officer’s shako in Western Australia. Worn 1869-78 by the 45th (Nottinghamshire) Regiment of foot. Gave the plate a bath in the ultrasonic cleaner and got the accumulated surface grime off, and it came up an absolute treat. Extremely chuffed to have picked it up, since I’d missed out on it when it was auctioned earlier in the year.

Slightly moth eaten in spots, but the gilt draws the eye.

Now to keep my eyes peeled for a 95th!

All the best,
Alexander

Many thanks all, and I concur Jerry, I haven’t seen too many of these rolling around on the forum. Will be good to get back home to it to get some more photographs. Came with a tin that has the manufacturers details on it which escape me currently.

All the best,
Alexander

A splendid addition to your collection Alexander. In all my years when I was collecting to the Notts & Derby Regiment it is the only last pattern shako I have seen. You have cleaned it up very nicely.

Best regards Dean

Well by Jove that is quite something. Makes the thrill of the chase even greater for others!
