South African Warrant Officer insignia
Hi South African members,
Here are badges some of which I believe were worn by Warrant Officers. All are lugged except for the chromed badge which has long screw posts. Were these worn on the hat or sleeve? I seem to remember from a previous thread that the small collar badge was worn by Railway and Harbour Rifles in WW1. Comments welcome. John |

These metal WO rank badges were worn on the sleeve, specifically the forearm. The chromed badges were introduced in the early 1970s.

I have never seen a WO's badge with screw posts, they usually had clutch pin fittings. Makes no sense to have a long screw post on a cuff badge. The screw post badges in my experience were only for cap or beret badges.
