2nd Lt. Kenneth Glenfield Collin
I thought that I had a very good day yesterday but this morning I found that it was better than I thought.
I bought a post card size picture of a young officer of The Kings Liverpool Regiment with the name K.G. Collin on the back and I was told the officer was a WW1 casualty. A quick search of the CWGC site didn't find him but then this morning Forum member KLR told me there was a page in the book "Liverpool`s Scroll of Fame" devoted to Kenneth Glenfield Collin and there he is. The picture I bought yesterday is a print of the picture in the book. Kenneth enlisted into the Liverpool Rifles ( 6th Kings Liverpool Regiment ) 4 days after war was declared at the age of 17, the following April he was commissioned into the 3rd Bn. KLR and a year later was on active service with the 12 Bn. At the date of his death 12th October 1916 he was attached to the 17th Bn. ( Liverpool Pals ). The badges being worn in the picture are especially interesting and it is always satisfying to be able to add details to a photo even if they are of a tragically short military career. P.B.
