3rd pattern collar badge pair
Hi Guys,
This pair came into my possession recently, along with a couple of other badges which I will post up later. I can't make out the maker due to the name missing some lettering on both badges. One of them is missing an eyelet (is that what they are called?) on the back. Any information that I can get on these will be greatly appreciated, as I am keen to learn more about not only these, but on badges in general. Hope the pics are up to standard, if not please let me know, as I am a novice at this sort of thing Thanks for looking. Brad. |

Looks like K.G.LUKE MELBOURNE.
"Eyelets" sounds like a good word. Mostly they are just referred to as "lugs". Good luck with your badge collecting. I Man |

G'day Bradform68
Dont be affraid to ask thats what the forum is all about. Your photos are good so dont worry about that either. Very few collars have names and Id say that they are all WW1. The book on Rising Suns by Jeff Cossum (now out of print) lists 5 different named collars including KG LUKE, MELB. Others are Tiptaft & CO (UK), Stokes & Sons, JR GAUNT & SONS, ARENDSEN & CO, Good luck with your collecting, theres lots of Aussies on the forum to help you. Regards Phil. |

hi brad
K G Luke didn't start making badges until the early 1920's so after WW1 therefore these collars would probably be WW2 period. bc |
