First World War Mothers and Widows Ribbon
hi all
picked this up the other day. been trying to research the recipient with no luck. the number is 20240 any help appreciated cheers BC

yes, i had found the info on the mother in the NAA file but couldn't read the name and therefore had no idea who the ribbon related to. so, thanks very much Mike, you have been a great help. further research thanks to you shows Charles Edward Drever had a Brother: 2610 Pte Frederick Niell DREVER, 48th Bn, died of wounds, 28 September 1917. Frederick Neil Drever was born on the 14th of February, 1883 at Glanville, South Australia. His parents were Ellen Germain and William Drever, he was their second child to the seven other children they had; Herbert William Drever, Lillian Nellie may Drever, Barbra Sybil Drever, George Malcolm Drever, Charles Edward Drever, Florence Annie Drever and Ivy Elizabeth Drever. Frederick was educated at Le Fevre Pennisula school and his occupation was a baker before he enlisted in the army. He enlisted on the 26th of May, 1915 when he was 32 years old. Frederick embarked on his journey on the RMS Morea ship. He was given service number 2610 as a private soldier. He entered the 16th battalion he was stationed at Le Havre which was a French port the British force used during the Great War as a primary base for the Army to use. Whilst working here he was suspended, and when he re-joined, he was taken on strength to the 48th battalion on the 15 of September 1917 and was also sent to Belgium to fight. 13 days after re-joining, on the 28th of September 1917, sadly Frederick Neil Drever died due to wounds that received during battle. “In loving memory of our dear son and brother, Frederick Neil died of wounds, 28th September 1917. He sleeps beside his comrades In a hallowed grave unknown; But his name is written in letters of gold, On his loved ones' hearts at home.” A quote from Neil's loving parents and siblings. Frederick Neil Drever was buried in Menin Road South Military Cemetery, you can find him in many memorials. Such as the Australian National War Memorial, the Australian war memorial Roll Of Honour and the Exeter Semaphore Church Roll Of Honour. also found a photo mystery solved thanks again BC
