Default Rand Refinery - bokkie in porthole

And now for something completely different !
While up in Joburg for the weekend ( and by so doing, missing the bi-monthly medal meeting ) , I picked up this badge by way of consolation. At first glance it looks like a WW1 Infantry 'bokkie in the porthole' badge, but the words, " Rand Refinery Ltd - South Africa" seem to point to it being a badge worn by the Security Section of Rand Refinery. I have no idea as to when it was worn. Can anyone help ?
Regards
Mike

Hi Mike
No info unfortunately, but I see you're still getting stunning 'jammy' badges...
Cheers,
Alex

Hi Mike, very nice looking badge. I would think that it was for the security. Regards Andrew

Mike

No comment about your "no show" on Saturday!

However this piece is a nice find and it does appear to have been worn for some length of time, never seen one before....a nice piece!

They obviously employed ex-servicemen and a badge of this nature would have made total sense during the 20's and 30's.
