Default GvR Royal Engineers by Gaunt

Whilst I’ve seen many Gaunt made GvR Royal Engineers I’d not seen this combo before, what I believe is an early Gaunt marked slider on top (literally) of a Gaunt plaque!

A quality and pleasing badge which has undergone a conversion and some whilst still in the factory.

Nicely engineered!
Excuse the pun, a quality looking badge indeed.

Is it a Officer (Gilt) cap badge with the lugs removed and a slider added for some reason
